5 Things Your Cat Should Be Thankful For, But Probably Isn’t

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. While it’s always great to enjoy that delicious holiday food, the true meaning behind the autumn holiday—giving thanks—is much more important. Cats are definitely something to be thankful for! Their cute faces, loving snuggles, and adorable antics really brighten up our lives, and help make our houses into homes. But what would Fluffy be grateful for? We’re pretty sure soft beds, warm laps, catnip, tuna, and food would make the list. However, we also suspect that our feline friends don’t always appreciate everything they have. Here, a Walnut, CA vet lists some things your cat should be grateful for, but probably isn’t.

Veterinary Care

We know, visiting us isn’t Fluffy’s favorite way to spend an afternoon. (We don’t take it personally.) Your furball may meow in protest during the car ride, and won’t necessarily be happy about her exam, either. However, kitties are much healthier—and therefore happier—with proper veterinary care!

Parasite Control Products

There are now many different parasite control products available, from collars to sprays to topical drops. Fluffy will definitely be much more comfortable if she is free of fleas and other parasites. However, she may not be thrilled about the application process, even if it only takes a few seconds!

That Expensive Piece of Furniture She Ignores

Have you ever bought your kitty a nice, comfy bed, only to find her sleeping in an empty box instead? Do you have a deluxe pet tower or activity station in your home that Fluffy completely ignores? Sometimes our feline overlords are impossible to please!

Being Kept Indoors

Cats that go outdoors face many dangers, such as cars, predators, weather, chemicals, and other kitties. Kitties that are allowed outdoors are also more likely to pick up parasites, or get lost, hurt, or even killed. However, this won’t stop Fluffy from meowing at the door, and/or trying to slip outside!

A Proper Diet

Obesity is very dangerous for our feline friends. Chubby kitties have elevated risks of developing some very serious medical conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, and liver trouble, to name just a few. However, Fluffy would probably much rather indulge herself with fatty snacks than worry about her health!
