Laser Therapy

For decades now, doctors of human medicine have been using laser therapy as an alternative means to treat a wide variety of medical conditions. Now, this same innovative technology can be used in the treatment and care of our animal family members. As part of our commitment to always offering the most comprehensive treatment options available, APMSC is pleased to offer laser therapy to help our clients better care for their animal friends.

What is laser therapy?

Laser therapy involves the use of a small, handheld device that emits a high intensity beam of light, or laser. The laser targets areas of the body that have been injured or are causing pain or reduced mobility. When the laser hits these areas, it triggers the body’s natural pain relief and healing mechanisms. The therapeutic laser provides a painless, drug-free and non-invasive way to manage pain, improve mobility, reduce inflammation and speed healing following surgery or injury.

What can laser therapy be used to treat?

It seems like new uses for the therapeutic laser are being discovered every day, but currently we are able to harness the power of this innovative technology to treat and manage the following ailments in animals:

  • Acute and chronic pain
  • Arthritis
  • Sprains and strains
  • Slipped discs
  • Joint and ligament problems
  • Muscle and tendon pain
  • Post-surgical wounds
  • Fractures
  • Dermatological conditions
  • Much more…

How many treatments will my pet need?

The length, frequency and cost of laser therapy protocols will vary, depending on what’s being treated, its severity and a number of other unique factors. In some instances, results can be seen after just one session, while others require multiple treatments to achieve optimum results. Once your pet has been evaluated by one of our doctors, you will be provided with an individualized treatment plan.

If your pet suffers from any of the above conditions, or just appears to be experiencing pain, we encourage you to give us a call and find out if laser therapy would provide the relief he or she deserves.
